This was shot with a plastic sandwich bag over the lens. The grain and light blur and glow are all real world results of that. I also spritzed the bag with water but it didn't do much to affect the texture.

I think I really need to go out in the world and take pictures with no people in them. I'm forgetting how. All my recent photos look like fashion ads. I also think I need to live near a carnival...from the 1800's.

Major update in my Etsy Store, new product and the pendants are now all double sided.
I am planning on including the Tarort Series that Phillip and I collaborated on ages ago at some point as well.

The images above are an example of what the white space around the image will look like when it's printed. Since the full print size is not a standard factory frame store size I thought I would offer them in 8x10 and 16x20 for people who don't want the expense of custom framing. I will tell you that IKEA frames are sized correctly to fit the full size 8x12 and 16x24 prints with a 2" mat. That's usually what I use when I have shows to hang.

I just realized I also lost my Etsy folder with all the original contents of my store when I wiped my virus f*cked hard drive. Oh well, it's that time of year to update and refresh the inventory anyway, I guess this is the motivator.

As Phillip and I did not attend any Halloween festivities this year my daughter got to have all the fun. She originally wanted to be Bellatrix LeStrange, then a geisha ninja, and then a dead pirate. Luckily I just happen to have several approriate pieces in my stash and with a little pinning and rubberbanding we made it work. The hat was fun, it was just plain black with the gold ric rac and I added in some rooster feathers that I had (the green ones were from some left over cat toys) and her grandmother provided the lace and fancy button.

Last week my computer was attacked by a nasty virus and after two days of trying this, that and the other thing I wiped the hard drive and started over. It happened after I let someone outside my household use my computer and although I have no obvious proof it seems logical to me some dubious site or program I wouldn't normally interact with was messed about with.
Everything was backed up for the most part although I lost one whole photo shoot due to my own stupidity and all my PS settings because it didn't even occur to me to back those up - I know better now. I also realized I had only saved the RAW version of a couple of shoots and not the final edits so that will involve a lot of duplicate work to catch back up to where I was. It took the weekend to reinstall all the drivers, programs, peripherals and so on that I need and another day to realize what I was still missing.
It wasn't hard but it was tedious and frustrating and disheartening and it's making it very hard for me to get enthusiastic about editing photos that were already complete at one point. I've moved on mentally and don't like to backtrack. I can't believe what a frustrating shooting season this has been!

I only watch "Castle" because of Nathan Fillion, otherwise I consider it to be a very mediocre show but on last night's "Halloween" edition he dressed up as Captain Malcolm Reynolds with some great backhand references and it made the rest of the really awful storyline totally worth it!

My favorite kind of model is the type that just takes off flying. I may start to say "why don't you go over there to that tree and..." and before I can turn my camera on they are over at the tree climbing it, or hugging it, or trying to burrow under the leaf pile...great energy, great imagination. Not shy of interacting with the environment, I mean really interacting. I would rather have to tell someone to tone it down (and I do) than have to try and brow beat someone into action.

I am currently editing a set of fox mask pictures and the model was the foxiest fox I have ever seen (in a Beatrix Potter sense, not a porny sense) and she foxed all over that park, it was great to behold. I think that's why I lean towards shooting actresses and people with some sort of performance background.

She's wearing a coat with a rabbit fur collar, get it? These are the details of my own photos that amuse me the most.

My daughter just finished her homework and announced "All done with that, now to watch some educational television" (Schoolhouse Rock) which of course made me laugh. She stopped and turned back to me and said "Did I just say a funny kid thing that makes adults laugh?" which of course made me laugh harder. Ah, gotta love it.
